Tea from Sri Lanka has been rated as the world’s cleanest tea in terms of pesticide residues.

The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) carried out an analysis of tea samples from all major tea producing countries in the world. At the 17th Technical Committee Meeting on Tea of the ISO in February 1997, the ISO confirmed that Sri Lankan tea has the lowest residue levels compared to other tea producing countries.

Why Ceylon single estate teas?

We believe that single estate teas are the most exciting teas that Sri Lanka produces. As nature intended, single estate teas are full of seasonal flavor. Smooth tasting with delectable flavours, never bitter or harsh, high grown Ceylon teas range from delicate to full bodied to distinctive. Single estate teas return the excitement of tasting 100% natural tea made in the classical tradition of tea making, where the carefully picked leaves are processed gently to retain the maximum flavour.

Single estate teas give credit to the teams of experienced tea makers that produce them – where indeed the credit is due. Importantly, these teas have provenance and you, the customer, may know, precisely, the source of your tea.

Connoisseur's Choice - 2011 GREAT TASTE AWARD WINNER - TWO STAR GOLD.

Award winning tea from Sri Lanka's famous UVA region. An indefinable tea, very brisk, good flavour, good coarseness. Produced during the season when warm days, cool nights and the 'Cachan winds' combine to effect this seasonal flavour.

Nature's bounty....

Welcome to the highlands of Sri Lanka, above 400ft, where ‘Ceylon’ tea was first planted well over a century ago.  Where nature’s contrasts continue to delight and surprise even those of us who were born here. It is the sheer diversity of climate in these hills - the monsoonal rains, the sunshine and the sea winds, that produce the range of purely natural flavours in ‘Ceylon tea’ and distinguish Ceylons from other teas.

... and the skill of man

It is the skill of the tea makers on each estate that ensure that nature’s diversity is reflected in each tea chest that leaves the factory gates. The labour of the estate workers who pluck ‘two leaves and a bud’ hundreds of times a day,  ensure that this product still remains, literally, hand picked. And the island’s tea industry deserves credit that it has not succumbed to demands to abandon orthodox production processes to increase commercial yields, as this would have been at a cost: a drastic reduction in the diversity of flavours of Ceylon tea; an abandoning of the art of tea production to the impetuous vagaries of commerce.

...produce unique flavours that delight the palate.

The finest Ceylon teas are generally acknowledged to come from estates located over 4000 ft. The aroma of the teas from this region are unforgettable. If packed immediately after manufacture, at source, you should be able to savour this aroma when you open a packet of high grown Ceylon tea.

Like any beverage, don’t forget to take a look at the colour of your tea after it is brewed. High quality Ceylon teas will always look clear and bright - you should be able to see the bottom of your tea cup!
